Elephant Orphanage Sanctuary about 100km (2 hours driving time) east of Kuala Lumpur has been translocating elephants since the 1980s. The sanctuary is open to public.

No more elephant rides and bathing with elephants

The main attraction used to be riding on the elephant and bathing with the elephants on the river. As of October 2012, these activities have been put on hold as the Wildlife Protaction Act 2010 is enforced. Read more:

How to get to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary
There is no public transport to the sanctuary so you depend on your own car or book a tour.
