Melaka`s chinatown within the historical city has a very peaceful atmosphere with its narrow streets, especially so at night.

Chinatown streets from Bukit Cina to the area around Jonker Walk (Jalan Hang Jebat). Jonker Walk is closed for traffice during the weeken and turns in to a very busy street market.
The immigration of the Chinese started all the way back in the 16th century. A portion of the Chinese immigration intermarried with local women which lead to the Peranakan (Baba and Nonya) culture.
