Central Market
The heritage building of Central Market was built in 1888 and served orginally as a wet market. Today, similar to Jonker Walk in Melaka, it is a market for Malaysian souvenirs, handicrafts, textiles (batik, songket etc.) and art. It is also known as "Pasar Seni", which liturally means Art Market in Malay. There is a also a food court at the first floor as well as a few restaurants (Baba Nonya restaurant, Thai restaurant, Secret Recipe, Old Town Kopitiam).
The Annexe Central Market, located just next to Central Market houses art galleries and art supply and stationary shops as well as spaces for theatre and music performances.
The street in front of Central Market (Jalan Hang Kasturi) is a pedestrian walk that was been upgraded recently with a roof. Here you can find more stalls selling crafts and souvenirs.
Central Market certainly isn't the cheapest place to find souvenirs and handicrafts but it has a wide selection of quality products from all cultures in Malaysia whether it is from Borneo and Peninsula.
