Kuching

Kuching is the capital of the East Malaysian state of Sarawak on Borneo. Kuching is the most populous city in the state of Sarawak and the fourth largest city in Malaysia. Kuching means “cat” in Malay.

Tioman

Largest island of Malaysias east coast. It’s located 32km off the coast and is some 20km long and 12km wide and the highest peak is Gunung Kajang with 1038m. In the 70ies TIME magazine selected Tioman as one the world’s most beautiful islands but lost some flair in recent years due to do development. The island has eight main villages, many beaches and is densely forested and is surrounded by numerous coral reefs, making it a scuba diving haven.

Roof-top Bars

Luna Bar, Roof-top bar near KL Tower
======================================
If you wanna go out and enjoy an amazing look over the city, go the Luna Bar. It?s in the Pan Global Building just oposite of the entrance to the KL Tower. You have to take the elevator to the 33rd floor. On Friday and Saturday there is a cover charge of RM 50. It?s open air and you can sit right next to edge of the building.
Sky Bar, with Twin Tower view
==================================
The Sky bar in the Traders Hotel just opposite the Petronas Towers (on the other site of the KLCC park) and adjacent to the conference center. Amazing view of the towers.

The infamous poker scam

For the past few years there has been this scam going on in Kuala Lumpur and other Asian cities (I’ve been approached in Bangkok once too). Be careful when a stranger approaches you with a line like “Oh, I like your tattoo where did you get this done?” and then they ask where you’re from. Then, coincidentally, they have family member going that way too to study or something. Anyway, in the end you’ll be invited to their house and before you know you are in the middle of a poker game and will be forced to withdraw all your money. I know it’s weird and you could never fall for that, but I’ve seen enough travelers losing thousands (!) of dollars this way and they couldn’t even remember how it all happened. So be carefully and just ignore them, this people are good.
