I stayed very close to the Komtar a few years ago when I was backpacking around SE Asia. Its an amazing buiding and city - also love going up the . I’m not really a big shopper though and prefered to sample the fantastic foods on offer. It was in Penang that I had the best ever Indian food outside of India served on a real Banana leaf. Fantastic, would love to go back soon.
Komtar was open in 1986.

As a former british colony cars drive on the left side so watch out when you cross the road. It’s always better to look at both sides first. Malaysians can be crazy behind the wheel.
